Administrative Assistant for CHANGE

(Californians for a Healthy and Green Economy)

 

Californians for a Healthy and Green Economy (CHANGE) is a young state-based, nationally linked effort working to create a pre-market testing system and regulation for all chemicals. CHANGE aims to serve all Californians by reducing their exposures to chemicals that can impact their health, by improving the enforcement of health-protective laws and regulations and by expanding the California economy through the growth of innovative green-chemistry-based jobs and industries.

 

The Administrative Assistant works directly with the Coalition Coordinator to ensure that CHANGE's goals are achieved. The Administrative Assistant works closely with the coalition's leadership including the Co-conveners and Workgroup chairs. The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support for the coalition. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Takes notes on conference calls and in meetings.
  • Assists with logistics for meetings.
  • Meets regularly with Coalition Coordinator to prioritize roles and responsibilities.
  • Provides administrative support to the Coalition Coordinator including: scheduling appointments; coordinating travel arrangements; responding to inquiries and invitations; managing contacts database; drafting correspondence; completing expense reports; maintaining files, and performing general clerical tasks.
  • Provides support for trainings including: handling stipends and reimbursements for trainers; managing contacts; add emails to "Action Alert" listserve; and liaison between trainers and workgroup.
  • Provides support for general office operations and fundraising efforts.
  • Performs duties and oversees special projects as delegated by the Coalition Coordinator.

 

Qualifications

  • One year's experience as an Administrative Assistant or related experience.
  • Excellent organizational, written, oral, and listening communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task with high degree of project- and time-management capacity.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making capacity.
  • Highly organized, great attention to detail, and a self-starter.
  • Positive approach, can-do attitude, sense of humor and grace under pressure.
  • Mastery of MS Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, and Excel) and Internet research applications.
  • Desired, not required: web skills, background in environmental health or justice.

 

Compensation

This position is part time. The salary is competitive, and commensurate with prior experience. Excellent benefits include health insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, and a retirement plan. Our office is informal, friendly, and energetic.
